How did we work it out?
NHS England publishes every GP appointment with the time between booking and the appointment. We count the appointments that took place within 14 days of booking and divide by all the appointments where that time is known.
The figure is the appointment part of the Practice Grade for England. It counts appointments that took place, so it says nothing about the people who could not get one. NHS England calls these official statistics in development.
Where does the figure come from?
- Appointments in General Practice: (published 24 September 2026)
- Appointments in General Practice, month by month: (published 24 September 2026)
- Contains information from NHS England, licenced under the current version of the Open Government Licence
