Fact box: GP practices in Dover
For journalists. You can use the box below as it stands, in print or online, as long as the source line goes with it. Every figure in it comes from the same data as the area page.
GP practices in Dover: patient survey and appointments
Dover has 13 open GP practices, and all of them had enough answers in the 2026 GP Patient Survey to be graded.
The 13 graded practices had 1,402 answers between them to the survey’s question on overall experience.
The Practice Grade weighs patient experience, the share of patients who describe their practice as good (70%), and access (30%): the share of appointments within two weeks of booking and the share of calls the practice answers, from NHS England’s latest monthly data. For Dover as a whole, with every graded practice counting equally, it is 76.1, against 77.2 for England (likely range 74.0 to 77.8). Patients’ answers there, taken together, cannot be told apart from the England average. On average, practices there are 1.1 points below the England average (likely range: from 3.2 points below to 0.6 points above).
Of the 13 graded practices, 2 are clearly above the England average, which needs the whole margin of error for patients’ answers to lie above England’s figure.

The grade measures patients’ experience, how soon appointments take place and how many calls are answered, not the quality of clinical care. NHS England publishes the appointment and phone data as official statistics in development.
